At Reading Night, we learned about the game BANG!, which helps students practice reading words. This is a great game to help students recognize their sight words, and even Spelling words. All you need are word cards and a container, super simple! Players take turns pulling a word card from the container and reading it. If they read it correctly, they get to keep the card; if not, they have to put it back. Watch out for the BANG! card though. If you pull a BANG! card, you have to return all of your cards to the container and start over. We have incorporated this game into our Reading centers, recess, or other free time. The students really enjoy this game! I recommend trying it at home! (I use 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade sight word lists.)
